Here's something that might rewire the way you think about English: almost every phrasal verb built around get shares a single underlying image — movement from one state or place to another. Once that clicks, the whole family starts to feel less like a random list you have to memorize and more like variations on the same song.
Take get over. You're not literally climbing anything, but your mind is crossing a barrier — grief, shock, a bad breakup. The over signals that something is now behind you. Compare that with get through, where you're pushing inside a difficult stretch — a tough week, a painful conversation — and coming out the other side. Same core movement, different direction.
Then there's get across. This one surprises a lot of people. An idea or message travels across the gap between two minds. If your point didn't land, it never made the crossing. That spatial metaphor is exactly why native speakers say I couldn't get it across rather than I couldn't explain it — the phrasing captures the feeling of something being stuck on your side of the bridge.
Even get away with follows the pattern: you escape consequences — you move away from them. And get around to something means you've navigated past all the delays and finally arrived at the action.
The moment you stop translating each phrase individually and start feeling that movement — toward, over, through, across, away — these verbs stop being a chore and start being almost intuitive.

豆知識（Cultural Tip）
日本語では「乗り越える」「伝わる」「やり遂げる」はそれぞれ別々の動詞で表現するけれど、英語では <em>get</em> という一語に方向を表す副詞をつけるだけで全部まかなえてしまう。この「移動のコアイメージ」を意識すると、新しい句動詞に出会ったときに「あ、これはどっちへの移動だろう？」と考えられるようになる。オンライン英会話で <em>I finally got around to studying phrasal verbs!</em> と言ってみると、講師がきっと笑顔で反応してくれるはず。
